  • Egemen Altan graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 2004 and faced with the hand surgery during his summer plastic surgery rotation with Eti Gursel, MD in Wayne State University, Detroit.

  • Dr. Altan has finished his Orthopaedics and Traumatology training at Istanbul Okmeydani Training and Research Hospital.

  • During his residency he finished his fellowship at the Harvard Shoulder Surgery Clinic with the interest of "Shoulder Surgery and Sports Medicine". He attended many sophisticated surgeries including total shoulder arthroplasty and shoulder arthroscopy surgeries with Jon.J.P Warner who has been one of the pioneer shoulder surgeons of US.

  • He also finished his trauma fellowship in Harvard Orthopaedic Trauma Service under the supervision of Malcolm Smith, MD.

  • After residency, he has been accepted for AO Trauma Fellowship in Queen's Medical Center in Nottingham (AO Organization Scholarship) and had the opportunity of experiencing novel treatment methods of multiple trauma patients.

  • In 2014, he has been accepted for Mark Paterson/BJJ EFORT (European Federation of Orthopaedic Traumatology Society) scholarship and visited London, Nottingham, and Edinburgh as a visiting fellow.

  • Between 2015 and 2017, Dr. Altan served as a member of Board of Turkish Sports Traumatology Society.

  • Dr. Altan has increased his experience in the field of "Hand Surgery" during his fellowship at Pulvertaft Hand Surgery Centre with the scholarship of European Hand Surgery Society.

  • He has been a visiting doctor in Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Bolivia in Mexico in 2017, winning the "Latin American Travelling Doctorate Scholarship" by ESSKA (European Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy Society).

  • In 2018, Dr.Altan was selected as a member of the U45 Committee of ESSKA (European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy Association) for two years.

  • Dr.Altan, who works at Group Florence Nightingale Hospitals in different time periods, has been successfully working on Shoulder - Elbow - Hand Surgery and Knee-Hip Sports Traumatology.

  • Dr.Altan has been serving a member of Liver Transplant Unit of Florence Nightingale Hospitals as a microsurgeon.

  • He has co-authored multiple chapters on textbooks that are used by national and international orthopaedic peers and residency programs for orthopaedic education.

  • In 2020, he obtained the title of Professorship.

  • In 2021, Dr.Altan elected as a Board Member of the Turkish Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery Society for two years.

  • Many areas of interests are;

      -shoulder-elbow-hand surgery

     -knee and sports traumatology

     -hip arthroscopy

     -multiple trauma patients.
